An axe is not made by one person, but by many.
The blacksmith workshop is the beating heart of Hults Bruk, but forging is only the beginning. Before an axe leaves Hult, it passes through the hands of people responsible for grinding, finishing, sharpening, hanging, inspection and packing.
Every stage depends on the one before it – and every person contributes to the finished axe. Machines can provide force and precision. Technology can improve consistency. But experience, judgement and craftsmanship remain essential.
Behind every Hults Bruk axe is a team.
Rotation & Mastery - Knowledge shared accross the forge
At Hults Bruk, knowledge should never belong to only one pair of hands.
Members of our production team learn and master several stages of the manufacturing process. Moving between different operations creates a deeper understanding of how every decision affects the finished axe. A blacksmith understands what happens at grinding. A grinder understands what is required during assembly. The team responsible for the finished axe understands the journey that came before it. Rotation also helps us preserve knowledge and pass practical skills from one generation to the next. Because craftsmanship is not only about mastering one task.
It is about understanding the whole.
Responsibility - Taking care of the people behind the axe
Forging an axe is physically demanding work. Working with heavy steel, powerful machinery and repeated movements requires strength, concentration and endurance. Protecting the people behind our products is therefore an important part of how we work.
Every member of the Hults Bruk team is given 30 minutes of paid exercise during each working day, supporting strength, mobility and long-term health.
For us, responsibility is not separate from craftsmanship. If we want to preserve skills for future generations, we must also take care of the people who carry those skills forward.
