From Hult to the world

Hults Bruk may come from a small place in Sweden, but our axes have travelled the world for generations.

Today, axes forged at Hults Bruk are sold and used across the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, South Africa and beyond. They are carried into forests, camps and working environments that can be very different from those surrounding our forge in Hult, outside Norrköping.

Different forests. Different traditions. Different ways of using an axe.

One place of origin.

Hults Bruk today

Hults Bruk is both a place and a brand.

Every Hults Bruk axe begins at our historic forge in Hult, Östergötland, where axes have been produced since 1697. More than three centuries later, the forge remains in operation, combining generations of knowledge with modern production technology, quality control and a growing international presence.

Our focus today is clear: to make Hults Bruk one of the world's leading axe brands while preserving the craftsmanship, knowledge and identity that make the forge unique.

The range is developed for people who value well-made tools and understand the difference that materials, balance, geometry and craftsmanship can make. From compact axes for carrying into the outdoors to larger felling and splitting axes, every model has a purpose.

And every axe carries something else with it: a piece of the history of Hults Bruk.

Returning to our origins

Hults Bruk is not a new brand.

It is the original identity of the place where our axes have been forged for more than three centuries.

For many years, part of the axe range produced at Hults Bruk was sold internationally under the Hultafors name. Hultafors has been the owner of Hults Bruk since 1992.

In 2026, we began a new chapter by bringing our outdoor and heritage axe collection back under the Hults Bruk brand in Europe and other international markets. We are still proud producers of the Hultafors axes, which is a separate range of products.

The change is more than a new name on an axe.

It reconnects the products with their place of origin, the people who make them and a forging tradition stretching back to 1697. Going forward, every axe produced at the forge carries the Hults Bruk mark – a tribute to the forge, the craft and the place where it all began.

An international tradition

Selling axes around the world is nothing new for Hults Bruk.

International trade was part of the vision for the business from its earliest days. By the late 19th century, Hults Bruk was increasingly producing axes for international markets, and ideas, axe patterns and manufacturing knowledge travelled between Hult, Europe, North America and other parts of the world.

Over the years, axes from Hults Bruk have appeared under different names in different markets. Flecha became known in South America, Jarrah Jack in Australia and Tiger in parts of Southeast Asia.

One name, however, became particularly enduring: Agdor.

Introduced almost a century ago, Agdor grew into one of the most recognised names connected with Hults Bruk axes. The classic range drew inspiration from traditional North American axe patterns developed during an era when the axe was one of the most important tools in forestry.

Agdor axes earned a reputation among forestry workers around the world, particularly in regions where hard and difficult timber demanded dependable tools. In some markets, a Swedish-made Agdor axe represented a considerable investment – but one made for a tool expected to work hard and last.

Agdor remains part of the Hults Bruk story today and continues as a sub-brand in selected markets.

Forged in Hult. Used around the world.

Today, Hults Bruk is once again building its international identity around the name of the forge itself. Our axes leave Hult for dealers, retailers and users across the world, but their journey always begins in the same place.

At the forge.

With steel, heat, force and the skill of the blacksmith.

The forests may change. The people may change. The way an axe is used may change.

But the origin remains Hults Bruk.
