The Wetterhall is a traditional double bit axe with its roots in the working axes once used by North American lumberjacks. With a cutting edge on each side of the head, the design provided two working edges in a single tool – an advantage during long days in the forest when keeping an axe sharp was essential. The symmetrical double bit head and straight American hickory handle give the Wetterhall a distinctive balance and character. Historically developed for forestry work, the pattern has since found a new role in competitive axe throwing, where double bit axes are used in specific competition disciplines. The Wetterhall is designed to meet the requirements of competitive double bit axe throwing and has been used by competitors at international events, including world championship competition. Outside competition, its traditional design also makes it an interesting example of an important chapter in axe and forestry history. The head is hand-forged at Hults Bruk and hand-sharpened before being fitted to its straight American hickory handle. A traditional working pattern with a modern competitive role, the Wetterhall connects the history of the double bit axe with the skills of today's axe users.

Product Highlight

Hults Bruk axe heads are forged from customized high-quality steel, with an alloy specifically engineered for this purpose, providing exceptional strength and performance. The steel is produced completely CO₂-neutral and is fully recyclable. Each head is hand-forged using the open-die free forging method. The axe head is then hardened and tempered for long-lasting durability. With a hardness of approximately 54–56 HRC on the Rockwell scale, these axe heads offer superior sharpness and edge retention. The cutting edge is hand-ground and polished to ensure precision and reliability with every swing. As one of the final steps in the forging press, each axe head is proudly stamped with the traditional Hults Bruk mark - a symbol of quality and craftsmanship.
