The Åby is a versatile forest axe designed to handle a wide range of tasks in the woods. Its hybrid head combines characteristics from different axe types, while the long, slender handle provides the reach and leverage needed for more powerful work. The semi-straight cutting edge and broad grind provide good control for carving and precision work, while the shape of the head makes the Åby equally capable of light felling, limbing and processing firewood. A pronounced hand notch allows you to grip close to the head when greater control is needed. The long American hickory handle adds momentum and reach to the swing without making the axe unnecessarily heavy. This combination of power, precision and versatility makes the Åby particularly well suited to shelter building, general forest work and situations where one axe needs to perform many different tasks. The head is hand-forged at Hults Bruk and hand-sharpened before being fitted to its American hickory handle. Versatile, balanced and capable of both powerful and precise work, the Åby is a true all-round forest companion.

Hults Bruk axe heads are forged from customized high-quality steel, with an alloy specifically engineered for this purpose, providing exceptional strength and performance. The steel is produced completely CO₂-neutral and is fully recyclable. Each head is hand-forged using the open-die free forging method. The axe head is then hardened and tempered for long-lasting durability. With a hardness of approximately 54–56 HRC on the Rockwell scale, these axe heads offer superior sharpness and edge retention. The cutting edge is hand-ground and polished to ensure precision and reliability with every swing. As one of the final steps in the forging press, each axe head is proudly stamped with the traditional Hults Bruk mark - a symbol of quality and craftsmanship.
